This month’s newsletter springs into gaming with several high-rated and top-grossing Android games that are developed and published by publicly traded companies. The one thing that stands out about most of these stocks: all but one have overwhelmingly analyst BUY ratings with only one as a analyst majority HOLD rating.

Tencent remains a dominant force in mobile gaming, owning or holding significant stakes in many of the world’s most popular titles.

  • Honor of Kings: Consistently the top-grossing mobile game globally.
  • PUBG Mobile: A long-standing leader in the Battle Royale genre with massive monthly revenue. Level Infinite is the gaming brand and publishing division of Tencent Games which is a subsidiary of Tencent Holdings Ltd.
  • Brawl Stars & Clash of Clans: Developed by Supercell (a subsidiary of Tencent), these remain highly rated for their competitive gameplay and regular updates.

2. Roblox Corporation (NYSE: RBLX)

  • Roblox: More of a platform than a single game, it is one of the highest-grossing apps in North America. It relies on a massive user-generated content economy and is a staple for younger demographics.

3. Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA)

EA has a strong portfolio of mobile adaptations of its major console and PC franchises.

  • EA SPORTS FC Mobile (formerly FIFA): The premier football simulation on Android.
  • The Sims FreePlay & The Sims Mobile: Popular life simulation games with high user ratings.
  • Plants vs. Zombies: A classic tower-defense series that continues to be a top download.

4. Take-Two Interactive (NASDAQ: TTWO)

Following its acquisition of Zynga, Take-Two has become one of the largest mobile publishers.

  • Words With Friends 2: A staple in the social puzzle genre.
  • CSR Racing 2: Known for its high-end graphics and realistic car models.
  • Empires & Puzzles: A top-rated RPG that combines match-3 mechanics with base building.

5. Sea Limited (NYSE: SE)

  • Free Fire: Developed by Garena (a subsidiary of Sea Ltd), this is one of the most downloaded mobile games worldwide, particularly popular for its accessibility on lower-end Android devices.

6. NetEase (NASDAQ: NTES)

  • Eggy Party: A fast-growing “party royale” game that has seen massive success globally.
  • Identity V: A highly-rated asymmetrical horror game with a dedicated competitive following.

7. Activision Blizzard (Acquired by Microsoft – NASDAQ: MSFT)

Now under the Microsoft umbrella, these titles are backed by one of the largest public companies in the world.

  • Call of Duty: Mobile: Widely considered one of the best first-person shooters on the platform.
  • Candy Crush Saga: Published by King (a subsidiary), it remains a top-grossing puzzle game over a decade after its release.
  • Diablo Immortal: A high-fidelity action RPG that brought the famous franchise to mobile.

8. Nintendo (OTC: NTDOY / TYO: 7974)

  • Fire Emblem Heroes: Nintendo’s most successful mobile title in terms of revenue and long-term player engagement.
  • Mario Kart Tour: Brings the iconic racing experience to mobile with frequent seasonal “tours.”
